The United Hospital Fund (UHF) aims to build a more effective healthcare system for every New Yorker. The group recently held their annual gala—one of New York’s premier healthcare events—to benefit their cause. The event brought together New York’s hospital and healthcare leaders as well as business and community leaders.
At this year’s gala, UHF honored Co-Head of Real Estate Banking (REB) Priscilla Almodovar with a Special Tribute Award for her decades of work backing affordable housing projects that improve the health of people in New York and across the country.
“For the chronically ill, homeless, mentally ill and disadvantaged, decent housing is the best prescription for better health,” says Almodovar.
Almodovar has devoted much of her career to financing community development projects that improve the quality of life and overall health of residents in New York and other cities across the country.
Prior to her role as Co-Head of REB, Almodovar was Commercial Banking’s Head of Community Development Banking, where her team supported $2 billion in financing each year to develop affordable housing, schools, health clinics, supermarkets, community centers and other quality-of-life projects in more than 80 cities across the US. She also served as president and CEO of New York State’s Housing Finance Agency before joining the firm.
“Priscilla has shown an unwavering commitment to creating healthier and stronger communities in New York and throughout the country,” said UHF President Anthony Shih, MD. “Due to her leadership, communities that once lacked jobs, investment and infrastructure have been revitalized.”
